It’s scarcely been a year since Telos introduced the Hx1 and Hx2 POTS telephone hybrids, but in that short time they’ve become indisputable hits, with the 1,500th Hx hybrid shipped to radio last month.

Independent Radio Ltd.’s Music 99FM, in Kingston, Jamaica, was the recipient of the 1500th unit, an Hx1 single-line hybrid. Music 99’s sister station, Kingston’s Power 106, also received a new Hx1. Both stations are owned by the Gleaner Company Ltd. (jamaica-gleaner.com), Jamaica’s oldest newspaper company.

For broadcasters with analog call-in lines, the new Hx1 and Hx2 are an inexpensive, immediate way to improve caller audio. The new hybrids contain the most advanced Telos digital signal processing ever, and include sweetening from Omnia Audio to automatically manage AGC and EQ.

Hx hybrids are full of sophisticated standard features like built-in auto-answer capabilities, new caller-disconnect detection, ingenious audio-leveling and anti-feedback routines that make the best of open speaker studio applications, call screening and line-hold features, front-panel meters for send and receive audio levels, and a bulletproof internal universal power supply. A choice of standard analog or optional AES/EBU I/O is available.

Perhaps most importantly, Hx hybrids have new DSP coding that help them tame even the most out-of-control cell phone calls, smoothing dynamic swings and enhancing intelligibility.

Hx1 and Hx2 hybrids are now shipping. The single-line Hx1 starts at just $795.00 US MSRP, and the two-line Hx2 at only $1,395.00. For more details, visit Telos-Systems.com/hx/.
